A Word About Costs

Everybody has a budget when crafting a new home. The trick is balancing creative energy with predictable costs and timing. It starts with design—I like to use a simple bid to fix the cost of architectural services—usually around $2.00 per square foot. I want clients to feel free to call me with design ideas and changes without having to be concerned about per hour design fees.

I have been involved in a lot of general contracting and understand what it takes to put a home together. I am not interested in designing a lot of fanciful projects that never make it to construction. Almost every project I have worked on eventually gets built. I can periodically provide detailed cost estimates to make sure we are on the right track, if not—we go back to the drawing board and find something that works without additional costs to you. Things are always easier to change on paper.
